Santa Clara Elementary School (SCES) is a Catholic parochial elementary school supported by Santa Clara Parish in Oxnard. The primary purpose of the school is to serve parishioners of our parish and other local parishes, who sincerely wish to have their baptized Catholic children educated in the Catholic faith and tradition. Active supporting members of Santa Clara Parish have priority enrolling their children.

Accreditation

SCES has again earned the maximum term of accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic Educators Association (WCEA).
 

Curriculum

Religion is taught as an academic subject in all grades, and Catholic doctrine is emphasized in all areas of instruction, as well as in attitudes and conflict resolution on the playground. Students attend Mass every week with their class and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation once a year. Prayer services and School Masses are held on several special occasions throughout the year for students and families. 
 
Our SCES academic curriculum meets or exceeds California State Standards, Los Angeles Archdiocesan Religion Standards, and Common Core State Standards (CCSS) guidelines. As SCES believes in "educating the whole child", in addition to the core academic curriculum, SCES employs additional Enrichment Teachers and provides all students with the following: Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics (STEM) instruction,  Physical Education classes, an Art program, a Music/Choir program, and Spanish language classes. We also offer numerous extra-curricular activities, altar serving and All-Catholic Schools League team sports for students in Grades 5-8.

School Hours

School is in session from 8:10 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. on a regular school day. SCES provides an academic year with 180 school days. Students are not to arrive at school before 7:50 a.m. and must be picked-up no later than 3:15 p.m. unless they are involved in organized after-school SCES sports, are officially enrolled in after-school parish/school classes/programs, and/or signed into the SCES Afterschool Program. Faculty Meetings are held every Wednesday afternoon; therefore, we will have early dismissal at 2:00 p.m. every Wednesday.

All SCES students wear uniforms, which must be purchased from our uniform company: Dennis Uniform Company. SCES Stewardship Responsibilities for Families

As Catholic education is a collaborative effort among school, home, and church, we believe that parent involvement is critical in the formation of our students, and in order to provide Stewardship, volunteer support and build strong community spirit at SCES. All families in our school are, therefore, expected to support the school with their "time, talent, and treasure", and each family is automatically a member of the SCES Parents Club. The Parents Club Board is designed as an elected, consultative, parent leadership and support group for SCES. It exists to encourage Stewardship among families, help provide financial assistance to the school through fundraising, and promote continued parental involvement in both the school and parish communities.
